Eye of Ra The Cobra Goddess of Buto. Depicted as a Cobra rearing to strike down the kings enemies. Can also be depicted as a lioness. Created the papyrus swamps. Nurse of Horus in the swamps in the Khemmis version of the Mythology of Horus. This later blended her into Isis. Edjo is the Cobra upon the crown of the pharaoh. It is said the Geb gave this task to Edjo in order to keep the pharaoh in power. It is only to be worn by the rightful ruler of Egypt.
historic note: Edjo was the only Goddess to remain during the reign of AnkhenAton and his queen Nefrititi. All other Gods and Goddesses where abolished in Favor of Aton the sun God. He kept Edjo to secure his rule on Egypt.
